Bygg ett stentorn vid Polarsirkelcentret

The Arctic Circle Centre was officially opened on July 13, 1990, at the same time as the new E6 highway across the Saltfjellet mountains was completed. Inside the Centre you will find a cafeteria serving North Norwegian fare, a cinema and exhibition hall with information about the Arctic Circle, and a large and abundant souvenir shop. All of this is spread across a surface area of approximatly 1300m2.

The Centre is situated approx. 680 metres above sea level on the boundary of the Saltfjellet-Svartisen national park. In the Saltfjellet mountains there is an abundant flora and fauna, and a large number of fishing lakes.

The Arctic Circle Centre is situated on the E6 road in the Saltfjellet mountains in the county of Nordland, and constitutes a natural stop for all travellers along the road. The Arctic Circle Centre is characterised by its unique architecture that has been adapted to the natural surroundings. The Arctic Circle is marked all the way through the building. The Centre is open for the season from May 1 to September 30.

Mamma plockar omsorgsfullt fram de stenar hon vill använda i sitt lilla torn. Det är ganska häftigt att tornen står stadigt för det blåser riktigt rejält här uppe på den flacka kullen, där fjällvidderna breder ut sig så långt ögat kan nå!

Till vänster är Mickes torn och till höger är mitt. Mickes ser lite mer ostadigt ut i mina ögon men vi kommer förmodligen aldrig att få veta om de har rasat eller om de står kvar om 50 år :-). Vilken tur att jag inte är ett kontrollfreak!!

Att stanna till vid Polarsirkelcentret ( eller The Arctic Circle Centre som det också kallas ) var verkligen häftigt. Centret ligger högst uppe på Saltfjället i Norge och är endast öppet på sommartiden pga att när det blir vinter här så är vägen i princip otillgänglig.

Inne i centret finns en restaurang som jag tyckte kändes lite som ett skolkök men det är väl så på dessa stora turistcenter. Det fanns även en souvenirbutik med exakt allt som du absolut inte har behov av och lite till. Jag ska absolut inte raljera, men vem köper en brevkniv med Polarsirkelcentrets emblem på för 269 norska kronor?!

Åker du genom norra Norge och på väg neråt så lova att stanna till och bygga ett eget torn!!
